Made to Order Policy

Some of our pieces are made to order: cut and stitched for you after you order, rather than taken off a shelf. This page explains what that means in practice.

Your measurements

When you choose "stitched to measure" you will be asked for your measurements. You can start from a standard size and adjust from there. We need bust, waist and shirt length at minimum; the more you give us, the closer the fit.

We check every set of measurements before cutting. If something looks inconsistent we will call you rather than guess.

How long it takes

About 21 days from the day your order is confirmed, before dispatch. An order paid by bank transfer is confirmed once we have verified your receipt, so the clock starts then rather than at the moment you place it.

If we are unusually busy, or a fabric is delayed, we will tell you as soon as we know.

Changes after ordering

Tell us within 24 hours and we will almost always be able to change measurements, colour or size, because cutting will not have started. After cutting has begun we cannot change a piece, though we will always tell you honestly where yours has got to.

Returns and exchanges

A piece stitched to your own measurements cannot be returned or exchanged. It is made for you alone and cannot be sold to anyone else. Please take your measurements carefully, and ask us if you are unsure — we would far rather answer a question first.

This does not affect faulty work. If a piece reaches you damaged, or is not what you ordered, tell us within 48 hours with a photograph and we will replace it or refund you in full.

Fit adjustments

If a made-to-order piece does not fit as expected, contact us. Where the difference is ours, we will alter it at no charge. Where the measurements given to us were not accurate, we will still help — usually at the cost of the alteration alone.

Natural variation

We work in natural fabrics and traditional dyes. Small differences in shade and weave between pieces are a property of the material, not a fault.
